This device operates under mode B of the IEEE 802.3af specifications. <p> The IEEE 802.3af standard defines the operation of power-over-Ethernet. There are two modes, mode A and mode B. Mode A was defines the voltage being carried over the same conductors in the Ethernet cable as the data information is flowing over. Mode B was defined to provide the power over the spare conductors in an Ethernet cable.
