Ubuntu was successfully tested on both a Dell Latitude E5470 and a third-party mini PC. Windows 10 and WinPE 10 were also plug-and-play in testing. Compatibility may vary depending on the distribution, kernel version, USB controller, Secure Boot settings, and system configuration. Kali Linux detects the RTL8812AU adapter but requires installation of the RTL88xxAU driver before a usable wireless interface appears. Tech Store On provides a detailed Kali Linux setup guide covering online driver installation, an offline downloadable driver package, interface verification, monitor mode, and authorized packet-injection testing. The adapter was not supported on Windows 11 or macOS during testing. Linux Mint, Boot-Repair-Disk, Zorin OS, Pop!_OS, Bodhi Linux, SystemRescue, CAINE, CAELinux, and Ubuntu Server Live 24.04 did not provide plug-and-play operation in the tested environments. Detection through lsusb alone does not mean that a functional wireless driver has loaded. The USB 3.0 interface supports stable throughput, while two adjustable external antennas and the included USB extension cradle allow better positioning and reception than compact nano-style adapters. Rated wireless speeds are up to 867Mbps on 5GHz and 300Mbps on 2.4GHz. Monitor mode and packet injection depend on the operating system, kernel, driver, and configuration and are intended only for authorized use.
